2006 My Generation from Vines on the Marycrest: Named for the song byThe Who, My Generation is about the exciting new generation of the Paso Robles wine culture. An alluring blend derived from 50-year old, head-pruned Zinfandel growing on their own roots (rare!) and the Rhone varietals Petite Sirah, Syrah and Mourvedre.

Located on 26 acres of steep hills in the westside of Paso Robles, Vines on the Marycrest was established in 2004 as the dream vision of proprietor and winemaker, Victor Abascal and his wife, Jennifer. This micro-production, family-owned, boutique winery & vineyard is a prime example of the dedicated, family-oriented, wine crafting that the Dallas News Wine Club champions. The Abascal family focuses on estate Paso Robles Rhone blends and Zinfandel, and they indeed earned a reputation for their creative wines and dedication to terroir.

Victor and his wife Jennifer sought out the Premium Wine Growing area in California -- Paso Robles -- to plant their vines and craft their wines. With its dry warm days, cool nights and calcareous soils, Paso Robles lends itself particularly well to growing and nurturing the ultimate Zinfandel and the Rhône grape varieties.

Victor continues his double life as a Winemaker and a Technical Engineer in the entertainment business, while Jenni manages the farm to create a special environment for their children, even as she attends day to day vineyard and winery operations with all the accompanying challenges.
